Funding from our community wind turbine enables us to award grant funding to residents and groups, in line with our Charitable Aims.

Funding from our community wind turbine enables us to award grant funding to residents and groups, in line with our Charitable Aims. The grant funds are open to applications from any voluntary organisations and clubs, or any individual residents on Rousay, Egilsay or Wyre.

CURRENT GRANT FUNDS 

  • Education & Skills Bursary – Up to £750 per financial year for adults & £100 for children, covering 90% of training and development courses that result in a qualification. Click here for an application form. .
  • Driving Lessons – via a recognised driving school. Funding of up to £750. Click here for an application form.
  • Well-Being 200 – This is now a £200 grant for each individual to be used by the 31st March 2025. This can cover sporting, craft, art and other non-certificated learning and general well-being courses, workshops, events, activities or services. It can also cover a book of passenger ferry tickets or overnight stays to attend well-being events and activities on Mainland Orkney. Click here for an application form.   • Community Activity Grant – £1,000 grant funding for community groups or individuals to run community activities, events and projects. This grant can cover capital or running costs of the group. Click here for an application form.
  • Emergency Stay Grant – Up to £100 grant funding to support residents with overnight accommodation costs on Mainland Orkney due to their transport to or from Orkney being delayed or cancelled by the transport operator, and therefore being unable to return home to Rousay, Egilsay or Wyre.   • Medical Equipment Support Grant– Maximum funding of up to £500 per REW resident. This funding will support the purchase of equipment to assist with medical/health related conditions or difficulties. This Grant is coordinated by the Island Wellbeing Coordinator, to discuss an application please email nicky@rewdt.org or telephone the REWDT Office.

Please note: An award will not be granted for any expenditure made prior to an application being approved (except for Emergency Stay Grant).

GENERAL GRANT FUND APPLICATIONS

Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre Development Trust operates a grants scheme which is open to applications from any voluntary organisations, clubs, or individuals who are either registered or resident on Rousay, Egilsay or Wyre.

Grants may be awarded for the benefit of members of our community on Rousay, Egilsay or Wyre to enhance the quality and/or sustainability of life on our three islands.  The amount of funding available for grants may vary each year. Grants awarded must comply with REWDT’s Charitable Aims, which are registered with the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator.  

These are:

  • The advancement of community development, including the advancement of urban/rural regeneration. 
  • The advancement of education.
  • The advancement of citizenship.
  • The advancement of environmental protection or improvement. 
  • The provision of recreational facilities or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended; including the provision, maintenance and/or improvement of public open space and other public amenities.
  • The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science. 
  • The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. 
  • The prevention or relief of poverty. 
  • The relief of unemployment. 

The Board of the Development Trust welcomes applications which meet the above Charitable Aims.

General Grant applications must be submitted AT LEAST 14 DAYS prior to the next Board meeting. An award will not be granted for any expenditure made prior to the application being approved by the Board.

  • Wednesday 26 June 2024
